Kiln change — when fire paints the glaze
Why every flame-change cup is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Why every flame-change cup is a one-of-a-kind piece.
From clay to the tea table
Our clay is refined and aged for three months before it meets the wheel. Ash glazes made from rice straw and wood ash shift in tone with every firing.
Four steps, forty days
Clay — Clay is sieved, aged and wedged to remove air.
Throwing — Each piece is shaped by hand on the wheel, one at a time.
Glazing — Glazes mixed from natural ash, dipped or poured by hand.
Wood firing — Three days at 1,280°C, letting the flame paint the surface.
